Here we go!!
New year, new challenge.
Can't believe it's already 2018! And the end of January!
Where did 2017 even go??
Last year has been pretty quiet music wise - well, I suppose trying to earn enough money by working 3 different (but fun and interesting) jobs to pay the rent and put food on the table does that :)
But I decided that 2018 would be different!
I want to get back to what I love most, songwriting, and I decided to take on the challenge to release a brand new song every month.
I'm calling this challenge my "One Song A Month Project, Straight From My Living Room Sessions"!
I know, I know, it's slightly too long but at least it sums up the whole experience. Because indeed I'm going to be doing everything from the comfort of my living room (or sometimes bedroom) not out of laziness but simply because at the moment I'm too broke to afford any kind of professional recording studio :)
But I love writing new songs and releasing them to the world so I figured I shouldn't be too hesitant and just do it. If all goes according to plan, I will be releasing a new song every last day of the month. Hopefully you will connect with the songs and support me in my journey.
Like a lot of lovely people did since I arrived in Scotland a little over 3 years ago to devote myself to music. It was quite a big leap of faith to take since I did not know anything about the country.
But so far, so good!
I didn't know anybody when I first arrived here but I quickly met the kindest people (some of whom would become dear friends); I also met an incredible amount of amazing musicians (Glasgow has definitely one fo the best music scenes ever); I recorded and released my 1st EP and played lovely gigs around the UK, in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Northern Ireland and even Iceland!
So I think I definitely made the right choice coming to bonnie Scotland :)
But anyway, fast forward to the present day.
The first song I'm going to release is conveniently called "January". Ha!
Why? Because every year, in January, we take on new resolutions that we can barely keep up with. And this is what the song is about. It's simple and light.
And yes, funny enough, that's the first song of this challenge.....a challenge that I actually hope I'll be able to keep up with...
But I really like the song and I hope you do too!
On January 31st (tomorrow!) the song will be released exclusively on my Bandcamp (https://djanagabrielle.bandcamp.com) where you'll be able to stream and/or download it if you wish. It will also be available on Youtube.
